Josh First’s Response to Obama’s January 2010 State of the Union Speech:
Obama Drinks His Own Kool-Aid, Tim Holden Pours It For Him

Like millions of Americans, last night my wife, our three young children, and I sat in the sun room and watched rookie President Barack Hussein Obama deliver his first State of the Union address.

Despite occasional cries of disapproval and disbelief from me, and frequent questions from the kids with resulting conversations, we heard all of Obama’s speech, as well as the common sense response by Virginia Governor, Bob McDonnell.  Typically our kids are in bed at that time of night, but this night was special because of the roiling politics caused by the radicalism of Obama and his congressional allies like Speaker Nancy Pelosi, our own U.S. Mis-Representative Tim Holden, and senator Harry Reid.  It’s a teachable moment for our kids, and we won’t let them miss it.  Obama would approve.

Bottom line: Obama is drinking his own Kool-Aid.  Meaning, despite obvious evidence that his policies are so radical that even Ted Kennedy Democrats voted for a conservative Republican replacement in Massachusetts, he still is moving forward with his anti-America agenda.  Our congressman, Tim Holden, says nothing to oppose the President, thereby supporting him.

Yes, Obama tossed some bones to small business on taxes, and overall he tried to sound moderate and understanding. Yet, his biggest proposed policies, with the greatest implied change for American capitalism and the role of our government, are still front and center:  Government-run healthcare, centralized government decision making like the former Soviet Union, mistakenly giving Constitutional rights to non-citizen terrorists and thereby unnecessarily undermining American security, and deeply flawed notions about “global warming” remain centerpieces of his agenda.  Never mind his outright lies about his “open” government and favored special interests.

Indicating just how driven and dangerous he is, despite acknowledging the political earthquakes in Massachusetts last week, and in New Jersey and Virginia back in November, Obama nevertheless defiantly vowed to push on….ideologically driven despite the people’s rejection.

Good, I say, keep pushing on with your radical, un-American agenda, Mr. Obama.  Because as you do, so do more and more Americans continue to recoil in fear and loathing of what you stand for and what would happen to the America we know and love if you were to succeed.  Their fear is translating into patriotic Americans (conservatives) being elected.  In other words, bring it on, pal, because the conservative movement gets re-energized every day that you do push on.  More conservatives are getting elected because of you.  A fundamental law of our universe is playing out:  For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.  Moderate politics results in small swings of the political pendulum.  Radical politics causes a wild swing of that political pendulum, and that is what we are now witnessing; a historic shift back to the traditional values that founded America and made it great.  Thank you, Mr. Obama!
