Campaign News

On Monday, January 25, 2010, the "4-H" committee made up of the three Hanover townships and Hummelstown met to interview and potentially endorse political candidates.  State representatives John Payne and Ron Marsico participated, as did congressional candidates Josh First and state senator Dave Argall.

The committee declined to endorse a candidate for the congressional race.

"Each time a Republican committee fails to endorse a sitting Republican state senator for a political race is a win for me, it sends a strong message to both of us," said candidate Josh First.

"With his own election machine behind him, as well as some others from the Republican Party that prematurely jumped onto his now limping bandwagon, and all of the top-down political pressure he has brought to bear on local Party leaders, Dave Argall should be a more compelling candidate.  But each time we interview, he fails to be endorsed, and I walk away with more volunteers.  I consider that a huge win each time," said Josh.

First thanked the "4-H" Committee for its even-handedness.

"Voters want authentic candidates, humble, every-day working people who they can relate to, like me, not pre-manufactured candidates created on a political assembly line with known defects but nevertheless marketed by their bosses," said First.

Josh's campaign is signing up and organizing volunteers in Dauphin, Schuylkill, Perry, Lebanon, and Berks counties for the upcoming petition drive to get registered Republican signatures.  Volunteers should email info@joshfirst.com or call volunteer coordinator Dena, at 717 576-3620.

"We very much appreciate all of the volunteer help we are getting, it is the essence of a grassroots campaign and it demonstrates that the will of the people will not be thwarted by Party bosses" said First.
