NEWS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 22, 2009

Harrisburg resident Josh First today formally declared his candidacy for the Pennsylvania U.S. House district 17 seat, presently held by Tim Holden (D-Schuylkill).

“Tim Holden has proven himself to be a Liberal enabler of Nancy Pelosi’s anti-American policies.  He voted for Pelosi to be Speaker of the U.S. House, and his ensuing 96 % voting record with Pelosi proves that Holden is a Liberal Trojan Horse, right here in the heartland of America.  Right in one of the most conservative, all-American regions of our great nation we have one of the most Liberal elected officials,” said Josh First.

“Holden’s much vaunted recent vote on socialized health care is merely an election year conversion, and to make it worse than that, Holden waited until Pelosi had the votes necessary to win in the House, and then he voted when it was safe for him to do so,” said First.  “Holden is no moderate, he is as Liberal as any Liberal holding office today in America.  Heck, compare his record with Congressman Chaka Fattah, who has a 98% voting record with Pelosi, and Fattah is from Philadelphia.  They’re nearly the same,” said First.

First continued, “If the voters of our district do not wake up and vote out Tim Holden, then they are allowing the Liberal assault on American values and traditional institutions to continue with their blessing.  I am betting that when central Pennsylvania’s voters learn what a traitor Tim Holden has been to their values, how he has sold them out in Washington, then they will vote him out.”

“Tim Holden is not a U.S. Representative, he is a U.S. Mis-Representative because he has been misrepresenting his record to his constituents for years,” said First.

“Our campaign has nicknamed Tim Holden the “Frisco Kid” because of his voting record with San Francisco-based Nancy Pelosi,” said First, who continued “Holden’s voting record is consistent with an ultra-Liberal from San Francisco, not with the gun country he supposedly represents”

“Generally, I stand for smaller and less intrusive government, robust capitalism, sound natural resource conservation and greater farmland and working landscape protection, creating new jobs and holding onto the jobs already in the district, reducing health care costs, reducing the national debt, strong national security, and creating new energy sources and supporting energy efficiencies.  Above all, the Constitution reigns supreme, and all policies, all legislation, all government goals must be measured against what the Constitution plainly says and the Framer's original intent.

“While proactive policies are necessary, if elected, my job number one will be to do everything I can to block the catastrophic legislation currently passing and being considered in the U.S. House under the leadership of Nancy Pelosi,” said First.

A December 28, 2009 formal campaign announcement and rally led by Josh First is scheduled at the Pennsylvania capitol Rotunda at 12:00 PM.
