Remarks by Josh First, Candidate for Congress

PA Republican Agriculture Committee

January 11, 2010

First Speaking PA Agriculture Committee If you are bothered by Tim Holden being Nancy Pelosi’s 96% enabler, then you know why I am running.

I want our country back, I want our conservative Republican Party back, and I want this congressional district back for the citizens.

Three things are foremost in my mind and my campaign:

One, put America and Americans first in all laws and policies.  Both domestic and international issues here, including fair trade, getting out of the United Nations and creating a new United Democratic Nations with countries that share our values and commitment to the rule of law, and applying original intent and Constitutional supremacy to all laws passed by Congress.

Two, energy independence using natural gas and oil from the Outer Continental Shelf, biofuels, and domestic coal to make new substitute transportation fuels that break America’s $800 billion-a-month export for foreign oil to people who hate us, and which also eliminate the need for new environmental regulations because these substitutes are cleaner than gasoline and diesel.

And three, farmland protection so that when we awaken from the dream that food magically appears on the shelves of the local grocery store, then we will still be able to feed ourselves.  Food security means clean food, uncontaminated food, safe food, and sufficiently abundant food that is not controlled by an off-shore source that could also be our enemy.  Farmland close to transportation hubs and major urban areas. This is a national security issue, and because farmland is still so abundant, Americans mistakenly take it for granted.  Conservation is conservative, and I refuse to adopt the “Play Now, Pay Later” attitude where our finite natural resources are irretrievably converted and future generations are left without.  Not a penny of taxpayer money needs to go towards this priority, and yet it will yield a pound of cure.

I’ll gladly take questions now, thank you.
